NY QSO Party

The New York QSO Party (NYQP) is an annual amateur (ham) radio contest where operators try to contact as many stations as possible within a 12-hour period.

How it Works:

• Date: Held Annually on the third Saturday in October
• Duration: 12 hours (10am to 10pm Eastern Time)
• Objective:
  • New York stations try to contact as many other stations as possible, both inside and outside of New York State.
  • Outside stations try to contact as many New York Operators and individual New York counties (out of all 62 counties) as possible.
• Modes & Bands: The event operates across multiple amateur bands (excluding WARC bands) using CW, SSB and Digital Modes (like RTTY).
• Exchange:
  • NY Stations send a signal report (RS/RST) plus their 3 character county abbreviation. (SUF)
  • Non NY stations send a signal report plus their state, Canadian province, or “DX” (country)
• Scoring: Points are awarded per contact (1 point for phone, 2 for CW, 3 for digital) and multiplied by total multipliers (such as counties, states, and provinces).

More details, rules, and live tracking maps during the event can be found on the New York QSO Party Official Website.
